Istanbul and Bursa are among the world's leading textile manufacturing clusters, producing fabrics and garments that compete directly with European quality, at 30 to 50 percent lower export pricing. For African retailers, fashion brands, and uniform suppliers, Turkish textiles represent a significant margin and quality advantage over Asian alternatives.
Cotton Fabrics & Greige Cloth
Turkey produces some of the world's finest cotton fabrics, from plain weave poplin and twill to Oxford cloth, canvas, and denim. Turkish cotton spinning and weaving mills use Aegean cotton, recognized globally for long-staple quality and consistent colour take-up in dyeing.
Woven fabrics are available in greige (unfinished), dyed, and printed forms. Weights run from 100 gsm lightweight poplin to 450+ gsm canvas. Standard widths are 150 cm and 165 cm for most applications.
Minimum order quantities are flexible: typically 500 metres per colour for standard fabrics, lower for premium constructions. We coordinate mill sampling (2–3 weeks for lab dips and strike-offs) before full production is released.
"Turkey's textile industry has invested heavily in vertical integration, from spinning to dyeing to CMT (cut, make, trim) finishing. African buyers get a genuinely end-to-end manufacturing partner, not a commodity trading house."
- MEEI Hub Textiles DeskReady-Made Garments & Private Label
Istanbul's Bağcılar and Merter districts house thousands of CMT garment factories producing T-shirts, shirts, trousers, dresses, workwear, sportswear, and outerwear for European fashion brands and mass retailers. These same facilities are available for African buyers at factory-direct terms.
OEM production, where you supply designs, tech packs, and branded labels, is the standard model. Private-label production is also available, where MEEI Hub's factory partners develop the design and you brand the finished product.
MOQs vary by garment type, typically 300–500 pieces per style per colour for standard product categories. Lead times from approved sample to shipment run 35–50 days depending on season and fabric sourcing requirements.
Istanbul and Bursa collectively employ over 500,000 people in textile and apparel manufacturing: the depth of production capacity available to African buyers.
Home Textiles & Technical Fabrics
Turkey is the world's third-largest home textiles exporter: towels, bed linens, duvets, blankets, curtains, and upholstery fabrics produced predominantly in Denizli (towels) and Uşak (rugs and carpets) are shipped to retailers in 140+ countries.
For African hotel chains, hospitals, and retail buyers, Turkish home textiles offer hotel-grade quality at significantly lower prices than European equivalents. Bath towels (400–700 gsm), bed sheets (200–400 thread count), pillowcases, and duvet sets are all available with custom embroidery or woven borders.
Technical fabrics for workwear and uniforms, including flame-retardant, anti-static, water-repellent, and high-visibility fabrics, are produced by specialized mills with EN/ISO certification for safety applications.
